Brinnon

Pleasant HarborBrinnon is a historic, small town located on the Dosewallips River delta north of Black Point. Originally Pleasant Harbor was used by boats that brought mail, supplies, residents, and tourists.

Starting in 1918, roads were built from
Hoodsport to Quilcene. Before 1969, Brinnon developed slowly, with its economy primarily based on logging, recreation, and seafood.

As the logging industry slowed, the economy of Brinnon has come to rely on small service oriented or tourist related businesses. See history section of subarea plan.

Demographics have changed over the years and the area is now home to many retired residents.

Much of the land in the area is forestland, owned by the Federal or State governments, or private timber companies, such as Pope and Talbot and Green Crow. Public land includes the Olympic National Park, the National Forest, and Dosewallips State Park.

Brinnon is a rural area with about 1350 full time residents.  Many residents live on lots of 5 to 80 acres and live in the area because of its remote and rural character.
